1tsb of baking soda, epsum salt, and aquarium salt per 5 gal.
Lava rock (pre washed)
regular aquarium gravel (pre washed)

That's it. The tank is 2 months old and this happened:

Baking soda is probably the culprit. I have used it in the past and it did the same thing.

You need a buffer to keep it high, but not allow it to skyrocket. I use a prepared buffer by Seachem and have never had the problem since.

I use the same stuff. just find the one that best suits your needs, it does its job very well.

I did a 30% water change and re tested under natural light this time. It's good now.

Crushed coral has been added in place of a BS addition.
