Hi everyone, my new fish was listed as a Paratilapia Bleekeri, but I've read they are more rare than the P. Polleni. Anyone have a guess?

definately polleni

but either way they aren't categorized as bleekeri and polleni anymore, it is P. "small spot" or P. "large spot"

Thanks DoubleP. I had seen that, but didn't know if it was current, or a common name.... Do you know of a good resource that lists the most current classificaions?

Yup small spot/Polleni. Very pretty too. Very black w/ lots of spots.

Thanks CFL - the flash doesn't capture this fish. It's more of a deep black on the flanks, and the spots are a creamy aqua blue. It just doesn't come though :(

I would be willing to bet that is a Bleekeri.

:)

Juvies look a lot like polleni.

Oh yeah - the debate is on! Rudy, it's only about 3" head to tail right now. When would you think you could start to tell? (see larger spots, I mean)

And thanks for the input everyone.

Thanks. I think so too. I sold him to a guy who keeps africans, as I really didn't think he was getting along right with my neotropicals.

HPD - you were right man ;)
