Blue Eyed Pleco

I don't really know much about these guys. I got this one when I bought a 65 gallon tank from a friend of mine. I payed $100.00 tank, fish and all. I understand these are rare. Let me know what you think.

i've heard they are very rare. there was a girl in the fish shop i worked at that owned one. wanted 500 bucks for one a bit bigger than that. it was extremely aggressive and she couldn't ever put anything with it. very strange fish

I put him on Aquabid and he sold to a guy here in San Antonio for $900.00

WOW! I didn't know that was your pleco on aquabid. Great Deal!
I had one of these years ago but ended up killing it, either lack of proper food or because it was in a Kenyi tank.
I swear I paid about 40.00 to 50.00 in store credit , they must not be able to collect these anymore or loss of habitat.

those are extinct now in the wild so they are going for a huge amount of cash.

Actually they aren't extinct in the wild. The areas where they were collected in Columbia are under the control of drug cartels and paramilitary forces making collection to dangerous. Other parts of the river system where they use to be collected have been polluted by the lumber industry causing the numbers of these fish to fall below the point of being profitable for collection.

LOL...........Mine would hide so well in the rocks in my tank that pulling him out was the only way I could get a good photo.

I <3 plecos. Would not pay even 20 bucks for one of these though (unless it was for the sole purpose of selling it)
