It was passed on to me by a friend. He didnt have any idea what it was. It is about 5-6 inches at the moment. I am almost sure it is not a Jag.

I'm pretty sure he is one of the two. Definitely Pachromis. My opinion.

imo, it looks like a motaguense.

That is because it is a moto.

Not a freddy, or loiselle.

Thanks guys. Well, she is now an addition to one of my tanks. Do you think the shyness will go away after she gets used to the tank? Or is this common for these cichlids? How much smaller do the females grow to be compared to the males?

It doesn't look shy, it looks stressed. Is one of your other fish bullying it?

I did have a much smaller Flowerhorn in there with it. But, the Flowerhorn was the one getting bullied. I took out the Flowerhorn last night, so the Mota is now in there by itself. The reason it may have looked stressed in the pics may have been because of it being scared of the flash from my camera. I do not have a great zoom feature on my camera, so I have to get pretty close to the tank in order to take pics.

Positively a male. Look at the spotting in the unpaired fins.
