What is my fish!!!???

HI!! :lol:

I got this fish in September when he was just a little guy, now he is bigger and the people I got him from said he was a Jack Dempsey, well looking at pictures of other Jack Dempsey, I think he is not!! Then I went to a pet shop looking for what he could be, and they had one fish there, similar, which was the Jewel Cichlid, but that fish had three black dots along its body, mine only has ONE black spot behind his ears..?? What in the world do I have here?? The coloring is very similar, hes got the bright blue little spec things all over his body, and the reddish/pink on his dorsal fin and top of the tail... so.. I am stumped.. :roll: help?? Here is a picture of him...

Thanks so much for making that clear!! :lol: I finally know what he is, now one question... why doesn't he have the three spots like all the other Jewel Cichlids????? :oops:

Go to this website and you'll see that the Jewel pictured also only has just one black spot. :)

I think there's more than one kind of jewel cichlid. I think yours is Hemichromis bimaculatus.

Yep, Johna's right......Hemichromis bimaculatus is what is pictured in the link I left in my last reply I think. Really pretty fish! I dont have any Jewels, but after looking at the picture of yours, I think thats what I'm going to get next! :D
