I'd just clip some veggies to the side at the last minute before you leave.

I wouldn't do a thing. They will be fine. I have had fish that wouldn't eat for 2 months. Granted the temp wasn't very high, and the fish weren't active. If you have food in the tank while your not there to change water and stuff, it will just add to the pollution of the water.

Or if you do anything, do like Jonah said and clip some veggies on the side, but they probably won't last more than a couple days.

That way they only go three days without food, instead of 5. With my fish I just don't feed them at all during a trip. I do make sure I do a water change before I leave though.

I guess if there hungry enough they'll eat some of those feeder fish that i got to cycle my 20. besides they only eat every other day usually, and only at night. if i feed them every day it just sits in the tank.

I agree with not feeding them at all. Think of how mouthbrooding africans go weeks without food voluntarily. Also other fish that are guarding fry I have read go weeks without food. It won't hurt them a bit and they probably find leftovers in the tank anyway. Better for the fish that the water conditions are great then that there is extra food lying around.

I agree, do nothing. How crickett was talking about the mouth brooding and not eating for weeks. I chose let them eat overgrown feeders seeing that would be the closest to do nothing.

When I was a child. I had some convicts in a 10 gal tank.. The tank had hundreds of snails and alot of those long plants.. I went on a camping trip for more than 2 weeks.. No water changes or water added for evaporation.. When I got home.. The water was about 3 inches from the bottom.. I filled it up and found that none of my fish died.. But I did have a sever drop off in my snail population..

:yikes: Don't have an emergency here in Columbia.
I can't tell you how many times I've passed the scene of an accident and shortly after encounter an ambulance going the wrong way. Coincidence? Yes. But disturbing nonetheless.
I watched a fire truck drive past my burning apartment building once. Fortunately, it was the third one to get there. I don't know if the first two had to turn around and I don't know if I want to find out. Have you ever passed an ambulance on an interstate with it's lights and sirens on? I have - they drive slow here.
