set up a 10 gallon tank with a small pile of rocks or shells at one end and a cave for mom on the other side. the rock pile is for the babies to escape into when they don't want to go into mom's mouth anymore. maybe add a very thin covering of substrate from the main tank--just a sprinkling to cover the glass. use water from the main tank.
i would set up this tank the same day or the day before removing the female from the main tank. however, right now, you should put a bubble-up filter in the main tank and leave it there until you move the female--then place that filter in the maternity tank

He's a she, and yes I'm sure she's talking about a sponge filter. You could also use an air driven box filter that's been seeded in the main tank.
