hi there,

I bought a tank with 2 of these. they struck me as acara or texas cichlid, but definitely look south american. the owner had them mizxed with a chocolate, a few zebra (red and BB), convict, a massive white angel.

I do not have a pic, but here is a description

large one is about 9 inches . very rounded head. single black stripe down center of side. near middle is black spot. small brownish speckles on top fin and tail fin. greenish/grey in overall body colour.

You've just described 80% of American cichlids, lol.

A picture is almost vital for a correct ID.

maybe I can get one tomorrow when I take posession of the tank and fish.

I have been searching like a mad man since putting the deposit down this morning.

Will have to see the photo, there are numerous species in that complex.

the single stripe is horizontal. the streip on this picture, under the chin, does not exist on my fish

thanks for the help
