sorry for this almost not necessary message but im starting to impatient of all the wait for any breeding behaviour in my pund. nyererei couple.

i bougth them 02-11-2005 and the male was a little blury but he has been building up its colors and dominates my tank since my auratus male only wants a very very small territory for him and my demasoni the same thing so the male nyererei has virtualy all the aqua and even chasing the male yellow lab.

he looks like this now and the photo was not when he had max color you can see also the female facing forward in the shadow

and the aqua 63 gal like this for now (its a always improving thing i just love the rock on the left is my female rock and the name says it all)

i wanted to ask to someone that has already breed them if there is any way of contitioning them? to lead them to breed instead of just waiting because my female is taking eons to get a full belie

i know they are not early breeder but i would really love a hint on how much time ill have to wait

i just love this fish and the colors really amaze me

Nice looking fish and tank! :ok:

I have a couple of P. nyererei "Ukerewe Nyererei" that have spawned a couple of times. The first time was (I swear) within a few minutes of being taken out of the bags when I received the shipment they were in (I can just visualize them shaking in their separate bags, trying to get to each other...and finally, the barrier is removed). The second time (which was successful) took place under more normal circumstances, following a week or so of "dancing". Since I haven't had to do anything to encourage mine, I can't really give you any tips.

Good luck!

i need to get a better pic of the aquarium.

my male as been showing better colors as days pass by i hope that means something he now looks even better than in that photo.

he somethimes shakes for the female but for little time and lattely even some runs but she has not yet a round belie.

ill wait and see but is hard to wait since they are so nice looking fish i really want/need to have some fry im getting very impatient

good luck for your fish to

i got some fry at an auction a few months ago. they were about 1/2" when i got them. they're not quite an inch yet, but their color is showing up quite well at this size. they seem to be growing pretty slowly, but I imagine if you kept them in a fry tank and did frequent water changes and fed them differently, they'd grow faster.

mine are just in a regular Victorian community tank and are probably growing a little more slowly because it's not a specialized fry tank.

I'd guess with a fry/grow-out tank, you could have them at saleable size in about 4 months or so? Like with all Victorians, make sure that you sell people on a pic of the parents, not the slightly colored young...

tanx for your reply
4 month thats a good number
i know i must show the parents because when i bought mine i had to ask to be certain if they were the fish i wanted but if they were full colored i wouldnt had any doubt
i just hope my 6 aulonocara baenschi fry that i recently bougth can show colors also in that time also cant wait to see

in the meanwhile i´ve been giving lots of mosquito larvae and daphnia to my nyererei but no signs in the female yet

will try to do also a bloodworm culture if its possible but only after i check the pros and cons since i have them in my daphnia/mosquito larvae and now/bloodworm
but would like to do o bloodworm only

I would only feed frozen bloodworms--i read somewhere that bloodworms can occasionally eat their way out of a fish's body.
