Would a large pleco (13") eat smaller fish? Like 1" - 1.5"?

It could. I've heard of the larger ones going predatory before although I've never experienced it myself. But then, I've always traded in my plecos at around 5".

they will definatley eat/kill smaller fish if they are not well fed. i know that they arent natural predators but if the yare hungry they will kill and eat the slime coating off of other fish.

hope this helps.

Uhh not all pleco's are 'herbivores' some are carnivores in just about every sense of the word. Them pretty little SPENSIVE Zebra's would rather have steak than fries.

Ah well. I learned my lesson the hard way. Now the bite-size fish are in a different tank & on Sunday the plecos, that I got free w/ a free tank, are going to a new home.
