View Full Version : Please help identify
I bought a new cichlid from my local pet store. It was in the asorted tank and i asked what it was. They said they had got it in trade in and were not sure what it was. It is yellow with black stripes on it's sides like a keyi.....excuse the spelling. Please help me if you can. By the way it is about 5 to 6 inches.
Hi Art, and welcome
One species that's close to your description and is often found among the "assorteds" is the Maylandia crabro (below, in foreground; thanks to Jonah):

If it works, here's a better picture of Maylandia crabro (female).

Okay Tom, what did I do wrong? :?
Hi Jonah
You placed the syntax I've suggested--but in this particular (rare) case, your photo wasn't resized by the software (you uploaded a very small file to begin with), making the "sized" part of the image name invalid. Anyway, to keep things easy, I "resized" the image via that option in your album.
Here's Jonah's otherwise correct syntax (again, eliminate the spaces I've placed):

I'll put all these bits-and-pieces posts into one "How to link directly to your image" post.
...Anyway, Art: Is this your mystery fish? If the bars are barely visible, consider WN's suggestion above.

Cool, so I include the "sized" on regular pictures, but not on small pictures. I actually learned something on a Saturday. :D

I think you guys and gals have identified it. It looks just like the pictures provided. Thank you!
