View Full Version : My (true Green) Terror
Well here are some pics. To tell you the truth it does not do it justice, as you cannot see the finnage. It has a very white edge to it. No other shades. The top dorsal does not round off, it comes to a rounded point then points out from there. It also has a very long nose and is very green looking. Not typical of young Saums or store bought terrors. True or not as I won't know for sure until I can convince myself.

Im not so sure...But then I keep hearing all sorts of conflicting info as to whats a true GT so I cant really judge...It appears to be female from the amount of blue on its face. It does look distinctly different from mine in that it has more of that irridescent green instead of mostly gray on it sides tho..I dunno lol.
In any case, its a beautiful fish.
Cypherman,
Is yours a " true" Green terror? Tell me what you know
Is is a female as far as I can tell it is a little early but vents like one any way
Nope I just looked. Yours is a gold saum. Sorry I should have looked at the pics. I love yours he is awesome!

Yea I knew mine wasnt the real deal...I just dont know what the real one is...Till now heh...Well not really :? I've seen that pic a few times but I see the fish listed as A. planifrons called a true GT as well (the sickle finned white saum in that post about GT's...). A normal white saums looks like this:

Just like my gold saum, cept with a silver edge instead...My saum is hitting 5 inches or so. The female's almost three. Theyve spawned twice and are doin great (I removed that piece of driftwood and opened up the tank and now my male's stopped hiding from me whenever I walk by lol).

I'd say that it is a real Rivulatus. But, it's kind of like trying to distinguish a 2" Labiatus from a 2" Citrinellus. Meaning that it is very difficult :)
Fair enough Rex. I will put you down for a tentative yes. Thanks again.

Hi Rudy
I bought 2 of these Gold Saums, or Green Terrors, 2 weeks ago, they look absolutley identical to your Green Terror, or Gold Saums, well 1 does anyway,
the guy at the shop said that they where Blue Acaras, im well confused, are they Blue Acaras, or Gold Saums, or Green Terrors,
All three look very similar when younger. Do you have a picture?
Here is a couple links to help you tell. I will bet they are saums, or acaras

The easiest way to tell, except when young is that blue acaras dont have as thick (or any at all) caudal stripe as a GT, and both sexes of blues display the eye bar at all times (usually GTs only show it when theyre excited).

I think I may have green terrors, then. There not aggressive towards my other fish though, just towards each other. There beautiful fish I love them, they come swimming up madly to the glass everytime i come in the room, always the first for food. there both beautiful.
I am going to get a 25/30 gallon tank soon to put the pair in. Could i have any other fish in a tank this size, if so what else could have that would get along okay, and wouldnt fight.
