Snails?

hello,
i was wondering if any one new what is happening to my little fish tank. this moring i woke up and saw abo 20 worm looking creatures. they where pointy and where pink. at first glance i thought they were leaches. but then i thought they wher e maybe larger snails with no shells, becuase i bought a live plant at the store and they keep snails with them. after i put the plant in there the snails multipeid, the only reasons are. 1 i put a peice of spinich in there to get the snails out. 2 i changed the carbon filter. do you know what they are? thanks

No offense, but those are not snails. They are worms and I would try to get rid of them fast. They probably came in on your new plant... this can happen. Here is some more info http://www.algone.com/worms.htm
This link talks about marine worms, but the problem is the same whether marine or freshwater and the solution is the same also.

I am a little confused, why would you put spinach in the tank? Do you think that worms die if they eat spinnach? Putting the spinnach (or anything else in the tank) will only serve to feed the worms and help them multiply/grow. Get ride of them fast!

Sorry that was worded wrong, I meant that there was a bunch of worms/leaches in there after i put a new carbon filter and after i put spinich in there to remove the snails. and that i got a lot of snails after i bought a live plant and didnt see the leaches there untill I put the spinich in. becuase i read somewhere that the sails would go on it and then you could get a bunch off at one time.I havent seen the worms this week becuase i put some pennies in and i havent seen them. but hey may still be there? thanks, the snailsare deing slowly too.
