my oscar has the ick.it hasnt spreed past his fins.iv been treating it for about 4 days with medication what else shoulde i do

Pump up the temperature on the tank to 82 and add one tablespoon of salt for each 5 gallons.

This will speed up the cycle and make your meds more effective.

what type of salt do i use

Use salt witjh no iodine. You can get this anywhere, but to be safe I would just get aquariums salt at your LFS.
