Has anyone ever had a problem with their mouths pointing downwards with the upper lip extended out and almost see through? It is the only one in the tank along with one T. dusoisi. Any thoughts would be helpful since it is the first time having both of these fish.
I haven't had this problem but others have. Sometimes it just corrects itself - some fish go that way for a long time. I haven't heard of any cures or causes though.

I have a cousin with this problem lol.
Seriously I think its lock jaw or some form of lock jaw, like finz I've never dealt with it, but have seen other posts on diff. sites.
I believe you can physically pop the jaw back in place. I would do a search on google using "altolamprologus lock jaw"

Hi
yep . Lock jaw. They do this when they get stressed and these stupid little fish get so stressed so easy........
Never seen one stay like it too long though. Whenever we handle alto's of any type we are always caeful to handle them very gently and quickly to reduce stress on them. Again they stress so damm easily...however once they settle down and you leave them alone they seem to be very very hardy....
Just my two cents worth, i have LOTS and LOTS of Alto's of all different races. They are all the same....
