Is 1/4" thick enough for 100g? I've never built a tank before, but even my 75g tank has 3/8" glass.

I was just wondering because the calculator at this site http://www.garf.org/ says that I could use 1/4" to build it. I can get the glass for 136 bucks.

i'm with jonah, 1/4" glass with a tank that big would make me nervous.my 75 has 5/16ths thick glass.if it were me i would be looking at 7/16ths or 1/2" glass.

My 125g is 1/2" I think the bottom at the very least is tempered. Wit enough cross braces it might work. The higer it goes the more if'y it will be. Of coarse if the bottom blows out then all bets are off. 1/4'' will warp like crazy. It's amazing how far glass will bend before it breaks.

You can buy a 125g for $350 and it will be built right and come with the edge protectors, hoods, and lights. I think Petsmart has a 80g for $150.

I think Garf needs all the cheapest tanks they can get to grow all that coral. I don't think they make them over 12" high.
