View Full Version : managuense color?
im just curious. I have 2 managuense abot 3 inches each. But one is all gold with a little black and the other is totaly gold. Why is this?
There are several different color morphs in the trade, as well as different color patterns from varying wild populations. These morphs are often selectively bred to make a fish more appealing for sale. The gold jag is an example of a selectively bred color morph, and a very nice looking one at that. Hope this helps.
thanks chet. and i saw your managuense pics really nice looking.
Thanks! I'm not a very good photographer, so it's hard to do my fish justice. As with anything else, they are much prettier in real life.
I look forward to some pics of your fish, especially as they grow... :D

Actually I remember reading that the gold jag is a wild mutation.
Rex is right. There are naturally occuring gold jags (locals call them The King of the Guapotes!).
There are also selectively bred gold jags.
Stick with the real deal.......... much healthier!
