With most Central American fish, like Viejas (Synspilum, Black Belts) and Amphilophus (Midas, Red Devils) you should feed heavy amounts of Spirulina and other plant matter, supplimented with shellfish, shrimp, rayfish, ect.

But Managuense are more predatory than most. I would suggest a good meaty cichlid pellet, supplimented with shrimp, small feeders (if you are certain they are healthy), mussels, ect. and a small amount of spirulina pellets.

I feed my managuense a food I made myself, thanks to Rudy's advice. I bought some beefhear and a bag of mixed seafood stuff, like mussels, octopus, squid, oysters, etc. I trim the beefheart and cut in into cubes, then I put equal portions of beefheart and seafood into the blender and ground it to a course mixture. I added some gelatin to the mixture and spread it thinly in a cookie sheet. I let it freeze most of the way, then I cut it into small cubes and put in into a freezer bag. Instant, high protein fish food. My jag loves it, as do the jack dempsey and the green terror. I supplement my jags diet with nightcrawlers, mealworms, crickets, and the occasional treat of giant danios.
