How will a pleco work with a female convict in a 37 gallon? Are there any "good looking" plecos? I hope I dont offend any pleco lovers.lol

there are a lot of awesome looking plecos, try looking at catfishheaven.com
37gal probebly wont be enough for a pleco, that is with your other inhabitants, maybe try bristlenose acistrus(sp.) they will work for sure!- not the best looking in fact probebly the ugliest! but it kinda makes them cool- n truth is they usually go unseen when the lights on- but they clean IMACULATLY!....and their CHEAP

Just a question : how big can a pleco get?
a pleco species can range from 12 inch up to 25inch or bigger for some jumbo gibbiceps and panaq's ive seen at adult sizes
also you should have no problem at all sourcing the bristlenose in ny, their the best suited to your tank, and WONDERFUL cleaners!

your bristlenose pleco shouldn't get more than 6inches or so, perfect for your size tank.

oh, and if you want a "cooler" looking pleco, you could go for an "albino bristlenose" they are awesome looking. you can see pics in the catfish section of this forum in some of the threads

Check out Planetcatfish.com. Go in the section called cat-e-log. Pick the slection to switch to common names. There's a bunch of really beautiful plecos that stay under 6 inches. Some are very hard to find and they do tend to get expensive. Stay away from the common plecos they get way to big for your tank. Good luck

The plecos dont eat algae alone, they need other variety of food as well to supplement a well-balanced diet.

Yeah, I would figure that. But, a little algae in their diet would help them as well as me.
