you could go with a jack dempsey or a green terror

I agree with the jack dempsey. You would be potentially taking a chance with a green terror.
You might try a salvini. The size of tank would work fine, just watch for aggression. Just my opinion.

i think a dempsey would be a good choice.

jacks are great fish (had a bunch in the states cant find them in germany :()

but if you want a colonie, i would go for the cons, a 60 will hold a large comunity and you could get 3 or 4 breeding pairs breeding i used to use a 50 gal to get feeders for my shovelnose catfish this way, and the cons were prolific enough i did not have to do anything eles to keep my cat happy :D

okay firstly a flowerhorn will kill anything its housed with, so no, ysont do it. second a 60 im afraid is not big enough for 4 PIARS of convics. the best advice so far is in the start of the thread where bevoman cich1 and dagamore suggested a trio of convicts with a jack dempsy, i would go two females and one male, this will reduce fatalities n fights when the already pregnant female wont mate again, and also prevent the dominant male from killing a subdominant. a jack dempsey again is also the obviouse and easiest sourced companion, there are other options, but as a beginer you cant match these guys for colour or personality! highly recomended!
