An lfs that I frequently visit is running a holiday sale on 75-gallon tank setups: 75E All Glass tank, stand, hood with strip light for $299, which sounds like a pretty decent deal for a basic setup. The hood/lights might not be my favorite, but I have a question about the tank itself: is a 75-gallon "economy" tank thinner glass than a normal 75? All I've been able to find so far are footnotes that advise that tempered glass can't be drilled. So is it just thinner, tempered glass?

I'm contemplating a tank to move some of my smaller CA cichlids into, so I probably will not be putting a "tank buster" into it. I'm just wondering if that is what the "economy" designation means. If the only downside is that it can't be drilled, that is not a problem for me. Any comments?

Thanks,

No worries....... only the bottom is tempered. Don't drill the bottom, but the back can be drilled. That tank is fine.

it's just a smidge thinner than a reg 75....(done to cut the cost)
I'd say it's OK...I would personally buy one...maybe just not for an oscar or something like that...
