Personally, I think that's pretty cool! Especially if you just capped the other end instead of putting the shell on it. Then you would remove the risk of having a shelly get stuck in a shell. Plus, you could bury the pvc part in the sand and it would look natural, but add several times more living space. Seems like a neat idea to me...
