December Photo Contest

The announcement for the December photo contest went up a couple of days ago...But for those who haven't noticed:

Key dates:

Dec. 11: Submission Deadline

Dec. 14: Voting Begins

Dec 20: Voting Ends

Dec 22: Winner announced

To submit photos, click on the Photo Contest link on the top menu, then on "Submit Photo."

Winning photographer wins his or her choice of an Emperor 400 Power Filter or AquaClear 500 filter.

Let me revisit the question with clarification.

Yes, there will be a prize in January for CB I, but not for a regular photo contest since we won't be holding the next one until February (and, yes, there'll be a prize for that one, too).

We've been holding a photo contest every two months, and this bimonthly schedule is likely to continue. And yes, every contest winner has received a prize.

Just a reminder that tomorrow (Saturday) is the last day that photos will be accepted for the contest.

I was reviewing some of the uploads.

Please make sure you read the Contest rules before uploading.

Two points in particular to note:

3. Photographs must be of a cichlid species. Images of hybrids are not accepted.

4. Photographs must not have any marks which identify the photographer.

In fairness to all contestants, I can't make any exceptions. If your photo violates the rules, it won't be entered.

Please correct or substitute your entry if it falls outside the rules.

If you can see the stars underneath the photos in the December contest, you should be able to vote simply by clicking the value you assign to each pic. What happens when you click on a photo? (Use the site logo one)

hey tom, is the winner chosen by a ratio of votes/stars or is it who ever gets the highest average votes like 3.9*'s/100 votesor do you divide the number of votes by stars or some sorta equation like quality over quantity how is it talleyed???

Just browsed through the contest again to check out how all the pics were doing and was surprised the desparity in number of votes for each pic.

I honestly would have thought we all could have taken the time to give a vote for each pic.

I might be ranting and I have no pic in this contest, so I have nothing to gain. I just thought since every one took time to participate that we as an audience would completely participate too.

Feel like I should almost sign this Jack Handy :wink:

Thanks for guilting me into voting Glaive. If my lazy butt can go and vote on all 17 entries, then anybody can.

I'm glad I sat this one out. I counted at least 3 or 4 pictures that were better than anything I've ever taken, and many more that would have still been tough competition. Good job everyone.

I vote on all pictures and its easy anyway just start on the first one and click the arrow button on the top right of the picture viewer if your to lazy to do that then you shouldent own a computer

You'll find a link to the rules for regular contests by clicking on "Submit Contest Photo" on the Photo Contest Gallery page.

For the current contest, dubbed Cichlid Bowl, the rules are in the announcment posted Jan 5. Future contests--if any--will probably be guided more by those rules.
