OK, If I am going to put sand in my 55g tank in a couple weeks when I set it up, will my AC500 (110 now) and Emperor 400 move around the sand to much. The reason I ask this is I havent got the 55 set up yet but I have a 29g right now and I got the AC a little early so I wanted to throw it on my 29g to get some bacteria goin for when I put it on my 55g, but it started pushing all the sand against one side of the glass, becuase of so much water flow. But I just figured it was because it was to small of a tank for the AC500, hopefully. Anyways if anyone has used these 2 filters on a 55g with a sand substrate, please let me know. Thanks

Ditto cich1's point on the intake (assuming a tank height of at least 16"). Two other things to consider: Water level and sand grade. (I keep water near top and use 20 grade silica sand, aka "pool filter sand," and have run power filters without incident, even on a 40 long.)
